The film received mixed reviews from critics upon release. Sunayana Suresh of "The Times of India" gave it 3 stars out of 5 and praised the performances, music and dialogues in the film. She felt that it is "the story which lacks freshness. It is not new in its presentation either, but the director's narration gives it a fresh feel. Dialogues are effective". Suresh also felt that the major drawback of the film was its lack of humor. Somashekhar of "The Hindu" gave it 2 stars out of 5 and said, "The film lacks chemistry between the lead pair. The story meanders without focus or cohesion". He praised Sudhakar's performance in the film and also noted that Parvathamma Rajkumar's presence in a song greatly elevated it. "Indiaglitz" gave a mixed review and called it a "film without a soul". It also criticized the screenplay and screenplay of the film saying that it is not up to the mark.
